Reduction of Sludge at the Wastewater Treatment Plant in Ramtha, Jordan

Project Description

Jordan has 31 wastewater treatment plants (WWTP) operating with different treatment processes. Close to 50 % are equipped with a biological treatment stage using the activated sludge process. The environmental situation near the Yarmuk river and the handling of the excess sludge of the WWTP Ramtha shall be improved by means of the following two measures:

  • reduction of sludge volume and weight and
  • improvement of sludge characteristics
